Absolutely the trip of a lifetime!!! Was my main bucket list item and it did not disappoint. Bill Reid is some kind of meteorology guru. His ability to land you at exactly the right spot (even when the day looks like it may be a bust and when other chasers are going to other spots, Bill has a freakish ability to get you to the heart of the severe weather)! We saw 4 tornadoes, incredible supercells, lightning storms that I could never have imagined existed, AMAZING country and towns, everything was beyond my wildest expectations! The vans are comfy and well equipped. The people (Tempest folks and other guests)... well, they'll quickly become your second family! I could literally write a book about my experience and not come close to expressing the true scope and magnitude of it. I would NEVER use anyone but Tempest! I've been around the world and seen amazing things... none come close to the severe weather chasing experience of traveling the plains with Tempest Tours! 7 days, 7 states and 5,500 kms (sorry I'm Canadian - we don't do miles). Trip. Of. A. Lifetime!

My experience with Tempest Tours was incredible! We were able to see some great storms, and when the weather was nice, we got to see some amazing things (we went caving, visited ghost towns, and found some neat little cities to explore). The guides were incredibly knowledgeable and informative as well as fun and inclusive. We felt like one big family by the end of the tour. Can't wait to spend more time with Tempest on future trips!

If you want to go on a storm chasing tour, Tempest Tours is the way to go.Their staff goes out of it's way to make the experience exciting, yet safe. I went on the tour April 25-May 3, 2016. Those days consisted of exciting chases to try and find the elusive tornado. We came really close a few times, and saw some tiny funnel clouds. Even though we didn't see any tornadoes, the spectacular super cells, cloud to ground lightning, menacing storm clouds and hail made the experience unforgettable. Our tour guide Bill Reid, is an experienced storm chaser, who taught the guests on the tour how to read the radar and see how a chaser decides where to chase. We were lucky enough to have Chuck Doswell along for commentary. Chuck has over 44 years of storm chasing experience and was a fountain of knowledge. Martin Lisius, the president of Tempest Tours knows what it takes to make a tour successful and Kim George takes care of all the guest arrangements. I enjoyed it so much, I am going to sign up for one of the 2017 tours.

I've been chasing with Tempest since 2006, when the Twister Sisters recommended the company to me as a great way to learn about tornadoes for a novel I was researching (and feed my lifelong fascination with and curiosity about big weather). I was wary of following a group of strangers into potentially deadly weather, but the Tempest guides reassured me so much with their knowledge, insistence on safety, state-of-the-art equipment, weather expertise and humor, that I have now been chasing with Tempest every year since--long after my novel, THE STORMCHASERS, came out in 2010. I look forward to being back out on the Plains with my storm family, as Tempest has come to be, next year. They have taught me everything I know about big weather and I feel privileged to have witnessed sights most people on the planet have never seen.

(P.S., I also credit Tempest for providing me with the material I needed for my first professional photography exhibition, in May 2012! Tempest runs photo tours, so if you're interested in weather and landscape photography in addition to severe weather, this is the company to pick.)

I'm chasing with Tempest again in 2014 and I cant wait. If you're thinking of trying storm chasing for the first time it is important to go with a reputable company and I would thoroughly recommend Tempest. The guides are experienced, friendly and knowledgeable. They are very approachable and always happy to answer your questions. The vans are equipped with state of the art equipment and that together with the guides expertise, ensures that you are in the best and safest position to observe the thunderstorms. Lastly and by no means least there is a massive camararderie on the tours. I have made lasting friendships with people from all over the world. A life changing experience.

We went on tour 1 of the 2024 season and while the weather was annoyingly lovely, we still had an amazing time. We saw a couple of good storms, learned a ton and had a blast! The tour director and drivers we knowledgeable and when the weather was nice, we did some sight seeing. I’m definitely going t take another tour. These guys are top notch.

I went on my first storm chasing tour with Tempest Tours this year (2013) and it was a great experience. So much so, I have already registered for next year with them. The tour guides were very professional and knowledgeable and I learned a lot about storms. I highly recommend this company!

Went on a single day tour with the owner back in 2015. We chased all the way to Oklahoma and then back down to Mineral Wells. We barely missed seeing the tornado that did some damage to the police station in Mineral Wells.

I went again last year and this time we went to Kansas and saw an amazing lightning show and chased a rotating supercell.
