Beautiful rock formations. But too hot to go during these days. Either go early in the morning to hike into the arches or wait till the heat cool down in the afternoon. It was 108⁰F when we got there by 11:30am.

This is the start of Alabama Hills. The rock is a fun place to spend a half hour or so. There are some rocks for kids to climb on and plenty of opportunities for photos. Sierra Nevada mountains are beautiful in the distance. I won't go through Lone Pine without stopping here for a leg stretch and photos.

Nice place to stop by for pictures on the way to or from Bishop. Beautiful snow background if you go during May.

This area is a beautiful part of a motorcycle ride my group took part in at the Alabama Hills. We were there at sunrise when the sun was hitting the too parts of the mountains. Beautiful!

Hilarious rock along Movie Road! It’s listed as “Nightmare Rock,” but I’ve also seen it called “Miss Alabama” ? There’s a big turnout so you can stop to get out and take photos easily. Fun little stop!

This is a big rock to the side of the road that someone with an artistic sense had the great idea to give it a face. Unfortunately, subsequent artistic additions to the rock take away from the simplicity of the initial concept.

This is the first thing you see just a few minutes after you drive into Alabama hills! It is a quick stop to take a cool picture but definitely got my son excited about the trip.

I have been told that this Nightmare Rock is also known as Brenda. It was painted decades ago, and that a dedicated group of locals touch up her paint every so often.

Not sure if this story is true...but I think it is a cool piece of art either way ?
