I am a successful American fashion and lifestyle journalist living and working in London. Still having good friends the US, I heard about the NYC Private Shopping Tour last year when it was first launched. I wrote a piece about it in a glossy, up-market UK-based business magazine I work for. In fact, it turned out to be the lead story in the Christmas issue. We had great reader response to the article. So when my great niece graduated from high school in May 2017 I decided to treat her to a long weekend in New York City, a Broadway show, AND the NYC Private Shopping Tour experience. And shopping experience it was! My niece was walked off her feet, but loved every single minute. She loved all the quirky, off the beaten track shops, boutiques and designer discount outlets that only those in with the In Crowd know about or have access to. She felt right at home with the funny, little one-off shops in the Williamsburg area, as well as all the ultra-trendy shops in downtown Manhattan. On this tour she saw the lot. But not only did she get a total, once in a lifetime shopping tour of the Big Apple, she also had access to her own personal stylist and fashion adviser. And at no extra cost! The tour company's Head Honcho, Barbara, happens to be a successful fashion designer and stylist in her own right. So when my niece tried things on she had Barbara - and not just a full-length mirror - to say yes, no, or maybe. She also offered her invaluable advice on making good, sensible clothing investments. What she called 'Wardrobe Building.' As my niece is off to university these words of wisdom went down a treat. Barbara is also extremely knowledgeable on art, architecture and New York's cultural scene, and showed my niece some of the hidden artistic gems that you won't find in any New York City Tour Guide on the market. Madeline would never have seen that side of the Big Apple without Barbara's excellent running commentary. In addition, Barbara knows all the right places to go, be it restaurants, bars, clubs, or even a hidden away speakeasy that can only be accessed through the back of a wildly trendy boutique! Barbara knows New York inside out and upside down. My niece was totally blown away by the whole experience. So both of us cannot recommend this shopping tour highly enough . Definitely Five Star stuff! Barbara certainly got Madeline's off to university wardrobe sorted, and the price was right for the parents! I cannot imagine that there is another New York City shopping tour where you can get this kind of unique, specialist service. The expertise and the insider knowledge that you get from Barbara and her fantastic business is, I think, probably unparalleled. The NYC Private Shopping Tour has definitely got to be the best in town!

I was visiting New York from California and I found Barbara through her amazing Instagram feed. It took me to her web site and she helped me design an afternoon that got me out of my Bergdorf and Barneys habit to see stores I never would have found myself in Nolita and NoHo (I didn't even know a place called Nolita existed). We ended up in SoHo. By that point, I'd bought a new coat and fabulous pick-me-up pieces at little designer boutiques I'd never heard of. Barbara not only took me there, she helped style me, helped me choose flattering silhouettes and gave me a great experience. I can't wait to come back and try Brooklyn! I've heard of that but never been. If you want to treat yourself, or a friend, or even your husbands or kids to a special experience, this can't be beat.

I am thrilled with Barbara! I had two lovely young cousins visiting from Ireland who wanted to "shop all the hip places" . As i had no time, I gave them a tour with Barbara. It was a grand success. the loved all vintage, consignment and lifestyle store in Green Point so much I swear they had to purchase an additional suitcase. I shall definitely do this again with the myriad relations that drop in.

I spent the afternoon with Barbara walking and shopping all through the East Village and Soho and I was amazed how many chic stores and designers we visited that were all new to me. I would recommend a NYC shopping tour to anyone-even a New Yorker like myself. There are so many unique shops to discover. Barbara has wonderful taste and is very knowledgeable- a perfect guide for shopping in NYC!
